Gibraltar Tour by Inside-Out Rock Tours

The Panoramic Tour has 3 stops and takes around 1hr

  • Pillars of Hercules (South Views)
  • Top of the Rock with Monkeys (East & West Views)
  • Princess Caroline's Battery (North Views)

The Pillars of Hercules

One of the highlights of this tour in Gibraltar is visiting the Pillars of Hercules. Here, you can enjoy stunning views of Morocco in North Africa. You'll see where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, the only entrance to the Mediterranean. You'll also be at Europa Point, the southernmost point of Europe.

Ape's Den

Next we'll travel to the top of Gibraltar where we'll spend some time with Gibraltar’s famous monkeys! The Barbary Macaque apes, the only ones in Europe, live in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. Currently, there are over 200 apes in six groups roaming the area. According to legend, in 1942, the population of these apes dropped to just seven, and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill ordered their numbers to be increased. It's said that as long as these apes are on the Rock of Gibraltar, it will remain under British rule.

Breathtaking Views of the North Side

From the top of the Rock, we will drive to the north side to enjoy spectacular views. You can see the airstrip runway near the airport, which is right beside the border with Spain.

Moorish Castle and Old Town of Gibraltar

As we drive down from the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, we'll pass by the Moorish Castle. You can see the history and battle scars from cannonball shots during the wars between the Moors and the Spanish. The Moorish Castle is a medieval fortification built in 1160 CE and was ransacked by the Spanish between 1309-1333. The 'Tower of Homage' was rebuilt in the 14th century by Abu-l-Hasan. You'll be able to see the cannon dents in the castle walls.

As we leave the nature reserve, we'll drive through the old town of Gibraltar.
